1st April 2020

Art, music, museums and heritage; colour, creativity and culture. It’s easy to see why Liverpool is one of the UK’s most vibrant and charismatic cities. With this being said, it’s also easy to see how Liverpool can provide you with the perfect backdrop to propose. Whether you’re local, or planning a trip to the city, there’s plenty that Liverpool has to offer in the way of a memorable proposal.

1. Alma De Cuba

A fantastic restaurant serving up tapas, Latin-influenced dishes and cocktails in an exposed brick, 18th-century church lit by candles. Alma De Cuba offers a unique eating experience like no other and what better way to propose than with a full Gospel choir behind you? If not that, their petal shower will be sure to amaze.

2. Royal Albert Dock

The vibrant heart of Liverpool's historic waterfront, the Albert Dock hosts a plethora of bars and restaurants as well as beautiful views of the River Mersey. When popping the question, why not put your own engraved ‘Love Lock’ on some of the Docks chain link fences to mark the occasion, a memento that’ll have you returning to the spot for years to come.

3. Panoramic 34

Set 300 feet above sea level on the 34th floor of the West Tower, Panoramic 34 is one of the UK's highest restaurants. This celebrated fine dining restaurant is encapsulated by ceiling to floor windows offering breathtaking 360° views of the iconic river, city and region beyond. Ask your loved one the big question with the full city as your backdrop — how could they say no?

4. Mathew Street

If you’re a Beatles fan, this one may be a hit. Mathew Street is without a doubt one of the most famous streets in Liverpool, a hub of restaurants, bars and clubs. Why not propose in the iconic Cavern Club; expect it to be lively, loud, and fun!

5. Liverpool Cathedral at sunset

With a panoramic 360 degree view of the city 500ft above sea level, this Anglican Cathedral will provide you with the most breathtaking views of Liverpool and a great backdrop for some memorable photos. The 108 stair climb to the top would certainly be worth it!

6. Crosby Beach

With holidays abroad being more accessible through last-minute online deals, it’s easy to forget that the UK hosts some stunning beaches and coastlines. Crosby Beach is no exception, being awarded the Quality Coast Award by Keep Britain Tidy, it makes the perfect secluded and peaceful spot for a romantic picnic or to ask your loved one to marry you.

7. The steps of St Georges Hall

Standing right in the heart of Liverpool, St Georges Hall is a truly unique building in concept, design, and vision; the Victorians held nothing back in their ambition to create a work of art! Why not treat your significant other to a nice meal, then head to the steps at the foot of this gorgeous location to get down on one knee with a diamond engagement ring.

8. Mersey Ferry

With the city of Liverpool as your backdrop, take yourself away from bustling crowds and propose to the sound of the sea. For something with a bit of a twist, check out some of the Ferries evening cruises, to enjoy with a glass of fizz and live music! Be sure to check the ferry schedules for the perfect time for your 'marry me' moment.
